Watters
The First Known Generation
· WILLIAM WATTERS b. October 15, 1735 in Llanfair P.G. The Watters family came from a little village lying on the shore of Anglescy, which is about seven miles from Caernarvon in Wales. The town has the longest name on any railroad station in Wales. In Gaelic it is Llanfairpqillgygogyligogerychwrndrodwillllantsyiloigogogoch. The post office now uses a shortened form of the name, Llanfair P.G. The meaning of the name of the town is the CHURCH OF SAINT MARY IN A HOLLOW OF WHITE HAZEL NEAR THE RAPID WHIRLPOOL AND SAINT TYSILLIO'S CHURCH OF THE RED CAVE. The original church was dedicated to a Celtic saint, Tysillio, and as often happen in Wales, the church was rededicated to the Virgin Mary after the Norman Conquest, and somehow both names became joined. The town is located on Anglesy Isle across the Menai straits on the northwest coast of Wales, and he married NAOMI ANN HOLMES on January 31, 1757 in Burlington Co., NJ.
